Known as ‘The Canadian Corporate Chic’, ‘Punjabi Femme Fatale’, ‘India’s First Fitness Bikini Model’, ‘Canada’s Best Import’…Amrit Dhaliwal’s life has no boundaries. These titles all capture an essence of Amrit’s multi-faceted personality.
Hailing from a culturally diverse country like Canada, and gifted with a uniquely educated mind, Amrit Dhaliwal impresses everyone she meets. A Cosmetologist, Degree in Science and Commerce, Model, Actor and now a pioneer in the Fitness Revolution in India, Amrit is constantly on the move. The daughter of Punjabi ancestry, born to the British realm, raised as a prairie princess and internationally known as a sultry beauty queen, Amrit is exotic, traditional, modern, and urban. Her dark, smouldering beauty compliment women of many different ethnic backgrounds, resonating well with the South American, Mediterranean, South Asian, and Pacific Island aesthetic.
To become a fitness model was never intentionally planned. Due to a personal injury in 2003, intense rehab required power-lifting to help strengthen Amrit’s lower back. In just over a year, her thin frame was transformed to a toned athletic physique. Competing at a fitness show in Las Vegas re-opened the world of modeling after a long hiatus. Since then she has competed on various fitness platforms and published internationally.
“My sense of esteem and accomplishment from training has given me a new found respect for my body, mind and soul. I have incorporated fitness and eating clean as an integral part of my life. In order to achieve any fitness goal from losing/gaining weight to athletic performance to bodybuilding there has to be a belief in oneself to remain focused and strong willed with a positive mental attitude. A pre-requisite for success stems from your discipline to delay gratification in the short term in order to enjoy the fruits of your labour in the long term. The one message that I would like to embark upon everyone is to simply ‘Get Up and Get Moving’. Health is the biggest gift you can give yourself, your family and each other.”
With a unique opportunity to bring fitness to South East Asia, Amrit is definitely going places. In contact with significant movie, modeling fitness and finance personalities around the world, Amrit is in demand, and asked to travel everywhere. In negotiations for some time, Ms. Dhaliwal is set with her partnership team from Beverly Hills to bring a wholesale fitness revolution to countries like India, Dubai and Japan. With pools of new wealth and a rising middle class that looks to North America for inspiration, Amrit’s exotic beauty and chiselled physical features bridge the gap between the traditions of the past and the aspirations of the future.
“When I go to India this year, hopefully there will be a big push to re-educate the new enterprising middle class on the ways of North America’s Fitness reality. Certainly, a great, untapped opportunity awaits. The middle class is craving western sophistication, and hunt out all forms of American influences on their own, as evidence by Snoop Dogg’s latest venture. It is a little strange that I am following in Snoop Dogg’s footsteps, but that just goes to show how much the world is in flux. Things happen that no one can predict, and in this case, the distant worlds of Hollywood and Bollywood, instead of being, in direct competition with one another, can, and probably do more often than not, work in tandem.”
The time is right for this business savvy diva to take fitness to the next level. Look for more appearance in the pages of International magazines, a line of fitness DVD’s and books marketed specifically for the Far East. Simultaneously, working on a Bollywood-Hollywood movie career. As Amrit’s past accomplishments have taught her, anything is possible with faith and focus.
“It is very exciting setting things up simultaneously in the US and India. First and foremost I have to understand who I am and what my brand can bring to the table. Representing the East and West, I have to gauge my work and conversations to the client, underlined with cultural, political, economical ideologies. Through this intellectual process of discrimination, I am amazed at my own self discoveries: how much I have learned and how much more there is yet to learn. Representing women from the business to the fitness to the model/actor will always be important to me. I have a deep faith, that not only am I living my dharma but the Universe will bring forth the perfect opportunities for me to align with.
