Mary Jarmolowich
Biography
My full name is Mary Louise Jarmolowich, but to most people I am known as Mary Jay. I am 27 years old and currently living in Las Vegas. I was born and raised in the Bay Area, located in northern California. Upon graduating high school, I spent four years in southern California attending college. I moved to Las Vegas and have resided here for the last five years.
I started modeling shortly after I settled in Las Vegas. It did not take long for me to realize that there was limited work for a five foot, five inch, busty girl. Believe it or not, Las Vegas is still very conservative in some aspects. During this time, I was also developing a strong interest in fitness. I have always envied the girls with the rock hard abs and the firm bottoms and wished that I had the discipline to look that way. I decided to motivate myself to achieve satisfaction of the way my body looked. My first step in reaching that point, and probably my biggest accomplishment to date, was running the Las Vegas Marathon in Dec. 2005. Completing the marathon gave me the desire, drive, and confidence to get me where I am today.
Although living in the desert makes for undesirable running weather, in the last three years I have managed to train and participate in four more marathons in California and Nevada. Running in the San Francisco marathon twice was a great experience because I grew up there. I also ran in the Santa Barbara Wine Country Half Marathon, and participated in the Las Vegas Marathon for a second time.
I enjoy competing as a way to help me reach my fitness goals. Running in marathons helped me achieve happiness and pride in my body and the hard work it took to get there. So in turn I started competing in bikini contests. My first bikini contest was through the worldwide FAME Body Building organization. The competition was called FAME Sin City and was held in Las Vegas in May of 2008. I took first place in the contest and found that I loved every minute of it!!! In September of 2008, I competed in the FLEX Magazine Bikini Contest that was held at the Mr. Olympia finals in Las Vegas. I took third place out of 70 girls. I have found that competing is something that takes a lot of discipline, dedication and hard work, but it usually pays off in the end.
In the upcoming year I have a few events and goals planed for myself to help me stay on track with my fitness lifestyle and to also help me reach the next level in my fitness goals. I am currently training to race in the Santa Barbara half marathon for a second time. The run is so beautiful that I couldn’t pass it up. There are three competitions in and out of Las Vegas that I am already planning for this year, and I hope to add a few more titles my resume. I am also currently studying to earn my Certified Personal Training license through the ISSA organization. In addition, I hope to receive a certification in Nutrition in the upcoming year as well.
My final thoughts are for everyone who has ever wanted to get into shape, or has wanted to live a healthier lifestyle, the biggest piece of advice I can give you is to set one small goals for yourself. Once you have reached that one goal then you set another one….IT WORKS!!!!!
