Robyn Baldwin

Biography

My name is Robyn Baldwin. I am 27 years old turning 28 in 2010 and currently living in Toronto. I was born and raised in Kingston, Ontario and moved to Ottawa at the age of 5! After High School I moved to Hamilton, Ontario to attend McMaster University.

In University I started to work out at the on campus gym. In 2004 I tried out and made the Hamiltont Ti-Cats Cheerleaders and stayed active through dance practice. I started modeling as a hobby in University and was able to colloborate with photographers over the years to develop a portfolio and modeling skills. I graduated in 2005 earning my Honours Bachelor of Commerce specializing in Marketing and found a passion in Advertising. I love the psychology of consumer behaviour and have pursued a career in Media (the strategic, analytical side of Advertising). I spend my days in meetings and planning advertising campaign placements.

In 2006, I launched into my media career, started cheering for the Toronto Argonauts and continued to pursue modeling as a hobby. I love being in front of a camera and scheduled shoots in my downtime. In the winter of 2008, 2009 I noticed that my metabolism had changed. I wasn’t able to eat whatever I wanted to anymore. In January of 2009, Ashley Harrison (a former Ti-Cat cheerleader as well) appeared on the cover of Oxygen magazine. My immediate thought is if she can do it, why can’t I? I started researching nutrition, training and supplements and decided I would try my hand at fitness competitions in 2009.

I trained hard on my own and was able to lose my “skinny fat” to compete in Ms Chin Bikini 2009 in Toronto. I enlisted the help of Lyzabeth Lopez and took her Hourglass Workout for a month and then a couple of training sessions and her Fitness Model Workshop. I was able to step on the WBFF World stage as my first fitness competition. It was a great experience and definitely got me hooked on competing. After trying my hand at 4 more shows I love meeting new people in this industry and just challenging myself on a daily basis.

I spend my mornings and evenings in the gym. I lift in the mornings with a trainer and then do abs and cardio or take a yoga or spinning class in the evening. I am really trying to educate myself on nutrition and enjoying my down time. I love writing in my blog on my website and I’ve been having a lot of fun filming my training sessions for my vlogs.

I am currently training for the 2010 competition season and can’t wait to step out on the WBFF stage again.
