Biography
My love for health and fitness can be traced back to when I was 16 –years old. At the time I wanted to simply add muscle to my frame. So I began lifting weights and became conscientious of the food I was eating. The results were positively reinforcing for me, and slowly my entire lifestyle began to change for the better. Eating healthy and working out became a staple of my daily routine as they served to increase my confidence while significantly improving my quality of life.
My knowledgebase on exercise science, proper nutrition, and supplementation was accumulating steadily as I was constantly reading scientific articles and fitness magazines. Getting my Honours Bachelors of Science from the University of Toronto and taking courses such as biochemistry, nutrition, anatomy, and physiology provided me with a solid science foundation and allowed me to gain a greater appreciation for the benefits of exercise and proper nutrition. With my increased involvement in the field came a heightened compassion for helping others. Consequently, I obtained my Personal Training Specialist certificate and started my own personal training business, Elite Fitness & Wellness, where I made individually tailored workout and meal plans based on my clients specific goals. I am currently working on my Master of Science in Kinesiology and Health Science researching the benefits of physical activity on prevalent disorders in society, including obesity, cancer, and diabetes.
I take pride in playing a role in public education by teaching proper habits for optimal health. I believe that one’s quality of life is ultimately determined by their health and with a healthy mind and body, anything is possible. I am so grateful for the WBFF and for opportunities it has provided me. The 2009 World Championships was a truly memorable experience. I met so many great people and learned so much from some of the best athletes in the business. The show was a great success and I look forward to coming back bigger, stronger, and better at the 2010 World Championships! Congratulations Paul and the rest of the WBFF team!
All the best,
Pedi
